2. DBS Checks, Accreditation, and Insurance

  • All instructors and staff members employed by ASJ Riding School are required to undergo Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. These checks are regularly updated as per legal requirements to ensure the suitability of individuals working with children and vulnerable adults.

  • In addition to DBS checks, all instructors and staff are required to hold relevant accreditations and certifications demonstrating their proficiency in teaching and handling horses, as well as their understanding of safeguarding protocols.

  • ASJ Riding School maintains comprehensive insurance coverage to protect both its employees and clients against any unforeseen incidents or accidents that may occur during riding lessons or related activities.

3. Recruitment and Training

  • Recruitment processes include thorough background checks, interviews, and reference checks to ensure the suitability of candidates for working with children and vulnerable adults.

  • New staff undergo comprehensive safeguarding training, including awareness of signs of abuse, reporting procedures, and best practices for maintaining a safe environment for all participants

4. Code of Conduct

  • All instructors and staff are required to adhere to a strict code of conduct outlining professional behavior, appropriate boundaries, and expectations when interacting with clients, particularly children and vulnerable adults.

  • This code of conduct includes guidelines on maintaining confidentiality, respecting personal boundaries, and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

    5. Supervision and Monitoring

    • Instructors are responsible for the supervision of all riding lessons and activities, ensuring appropriate ratios of instructors to participants are maintained to provide adequate supervision and support.

    • Regular monitoring and evaluation of staff performance and adherence to safeguarding procedures are conducted to identify any areas for improvement or concerns.

    6. Reporting and Response

    • Any concerns or suspicions regarding the safety or welfare of individuals must be reported immediately to the designated safeguarding officer at ASJ Riding School.

    • The safeguarding officer will follow established reporting procedures, including notifying relevant authorities and providing appropriate support and guidance to those involved.

    7. Communication and Awareness
